| Rules & Regulations for International English Language Assessment (IELA) Test |

|
IELA is the first of its kind, International level test in proficiency in English in India. It measures the ability to communicate in English across two basic language skills - reading and writing. It is therefore meant for International Students applying to Symbiosis Institutes for higher education. International Students include Foreign Nationals, Non Resident Indians (NRI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO). |

| |
- The Test is an objective type general Test.
- It does not need any special study or any preparation, nor is it base on any particular textbook.
- It is a time bound test. The duration of the test is 3 hours.
- There is no negative marking.
- The test score will be valid for 2 years.
- The test is divided into 8 parts with each part testing a different skill.

The fee for this test is US $50.
It can be paid by Telegraphic Transfer or in person at Symbiosis International Office. |

After remitting US$50 you need to book the test dates well in advance by registering through an email sent to the International Office on iela@symbiosis.ac.in.
The email must contain the following details -
Name of the student
Nationality
Applied for UG / PG
Name of the Course
Name of the Institute
Preferred date / time of IELA test
Prospectus no.
Last qualifying exam
Passport #
Along with scanned copy of Telegraphic Transfer Receipt.
Students registering online will receive an email confirming details of test date and time from the International Office upon receipt of the payment of US$50.

In Person: Student/ Guardians who can come to office in person can visit The International Office, Senapati Bapat Road, Pune from Monday to Friday between 10.30 am to 2.30 pm. to complete the formalities with above-mentioned details along with one passport size photograph of student. |

A student applying for IELA will be issued an Entrance Ticket from The International Office.
- Entrance ticket will not be given to friend / Guardian completing the formalities on students behalf.
- Student applying online must first collect the Entrance Ticket from The International Office between 10.30 am to 2.30 pm, a day before test date.
- It is mandatory for all the students to carry Entrance Ticket for IELA Test.

Without the Entrance Ticket a student will not be allowed to sit for the Test. |

The IELA test will be conducted at English Language Teaching Institute (ELTIS), which is approx 1km from The International Office.

Once you arrive at ELTIS, if you have any queries / doubts you can visit the Enquiry counter at ELTIS.
- Mobile phones & Dictionary are strictly not allowed in the test center.
- Bring pencils and eraser with you.
- You have to report at the test center (ELTIS), 30minutes before the Test.
- Please do not write answers on the question paper and do not make any mark/sign on the question paper.
- Please write your name, country of origin and IELA Registration No. on the answer sheet.
- All answers should be written/indicated on the answer sheet by darkening the circle of your choice.

- Please return the question paper to the supervisor at the end of the test.
- You are not allowed to carry the question paper outside the testing room.

IELA results will be available at The International Office after 5 working days of taking the test.
Results of IELA test shall be in terms of bands as follows: -
I to V, indicating the user proficiency level.
Students achieving IELA band III & above shall qualify for admission to undergraduate/
postgraduate course of Symbiosis International University, subject to seats available and other conditions.
Students achieving IELA band II or I shall be required to undergo One-year Foundation Course at English Language Teaching Institute of Symbiosis. |

You can collect your Test Results from The International Office. You need to bring your IELA Entrance Ticket to collect your result. |

| If you wish to authorize someone to collect your result, you need to send a letter of authorization & your IELA Entrance Ticket. |
