Symbiosis International Cultural Centre

SICC

The Symbiosis International Cultural Centre was established in 1971, founded by Prof. (Dr.) S. B. Mujumdar as the first institute under Symbiosis society. In the early 1970s, the city of Pune witnessed the arrival of international students from African and Middle Eastern countries. These students came to Pune on their own, without any official assistance with respect to their studies nor had any support in settling down in this city.

The SICC, as it is popularly known, was set up to provide overseas students with good accommodation and orientation for their smooth transition to life in India. The motto of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, which means the world is one family, has become synonymous with the identity of Symbiosis.

Every year, besides various cultural events organized under its ambit, the Symbiosis International Cultural Centre, through the Symbiosis Centre for International Education (SCIE), is responsible for administrative support and academic activities to promote Internationalisation at Symbiosis.

To carry forward the legacy of SICC, the Symbiosis Centre for International Education (SCIE) continues to offer a wide range of student support services and facilities to make Pune, a ‘Home Away from Home’ for international students.

Since 1971, SICC has been organising a range of activities and events for international students, providing them with a common platform to interact, celebrate cultural diversity, and showcase their talents.

These activities have been continued and retained over the years, preserving the rich tradition of international student engagement at Symbiosis. Today, these initiatives are centrally managed and organised by the Symbiosis Centre for International Education (SCIE) under its Events’ Department, with the support and participation of international students and the International Students’ Council.

Through these activities, SCIE continues to foster cultural exchange, inclusivity, student engagement, and the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – The World is One Family.
